Member

The 8th Sangju City Council consists of 17 members, 15 electees from district electorates and 2 proportional representatives who were elected on June 13, 2018 based on the Public Official Election Act on June 13, 2018. The term of the members is four years which will expire on June 30, 2022. The City Council members shall constitute the Council and are responsible for establishment, revision and abolition of ordinances, review and confirmation of budget, approval of settlement, audit and investigation of administrative affairs and processing of petitions and requests.

Chairman, Vice-chairman

There will be one Chairperson and one Vice Chairperson who will be elected based on a secret vote and fulfill two years of term, respectively. Chairperson represents the City Council and oversees the Council affairs. He/she will maintain order within the Council meetings and Vice Chairperson will carry out Chairperson's duties in the absence of the latter.

Committee

The Council will have standing committees and special committees. Sangju City Council consists of the Council Operation Committee, General Affairs Committee and Industry and Construction Committee by area of work of the executive body and each Committee will review and process relevant agendas and petitions. Special Committees may be arranged based on a resolution of a regular session as necessary to temporarily review and process a specific agenda.

Council Secretariat

The Sangju City Council has a secretariat to deal with the council administrative work as stipulated by law. Office clerks of the secretariat are to be appointed by Mayor with the recommendation of Chairman and secretary general is to deal with office work of the council by the chairman's order.
